The Primordial Reality of Zion!


Abstract

Kabbalistic philosophy is not a later interpretation of Tanach; it is the supernal root and central vein from which the entire revealed Torah emerges. As affirmed across Lurianic, Chassidic, and Ramchal traditions, the sefirotic structure, covenants, and psycho-spiritual realities precede and animate the written text.

“Zion” is first and foremost the sefirah (attribute) of Yesod (Foundation), the precise psycho-spiritual locus where the inner covenant (periya) unites with outer Kingdom (Malchut/Jerusalem). Drawing directly on the Zohar, Sefer Yetzirah, Kedushat Levi, and the gematria of Tzion = Yosef = 156, the physical site of Zion, on the lower southern slope of Mount Moriah directly above the Gihon Spring (En Shemesh/En Rogel) must precisely converge. 

Joshua’s immutable tribal boundaries fix Benjamin’s lower Yesod connection, David’s conquest of the “stronghold of Zion”, the breaking of the “HaMakom” chain at the summit threshing floor, Isaiah 52:8’s unique grammar (“God will return Zion”), Maimonides’ insistence on altar precision, and the geo-physical requirements of aliya-la-regel together form an irrefutable multi-disciplinary proof. As psycho-spiritual and physical realities realign at the original Zion location, God will literally return Zion to its place, restoring the Shechinah in full Messianic revelation.

1. Central Vein: Kabbalistic Philosophy as the Preceding and Eternal Foundation of All Tanach

Zohar teaches that Zion is the psycho-spiritual attribute of Foundation, the Yesod activated by separating the inner periya of Jewish circumcision from the outer orla representing Malchut, Kingdom, Jerusalem, then by folding them together they manifest Jewish covenantal reality. The Book of Creation, Sefer Yetzirah, relates these to the covenant of holy tongue, to language and its use of Hebrew’s holy letters, inspiring man to aspire to The Creators pure speech.

The Kedushat Levi explains that this type of “speaking” (speech) was expressed by Joseph The Righteous, Yosef Hatzadik refusal to “suckle” from impure sources (a reference to his struggle in Egypt). The Hebrew letters of Yosef and Tzion share the same numerical value or gematria ‘156’ both represent Yesod, the organ of Israel’s covenant which Yosef guarded and maintained in purity avoiding foreign, impure influences (both physical and spiritual).

The Lesson: Rav Levi Yitzchak teaches that the mouth, that is destined to “speak to the Shechinah” (Divine Presence) must be guarded against impurity, just as Yosef guarded himself in Egypt. By following the dietary laws first stated in Shemini, Jews sanctify their mouths to ensure they are worthy of connection to God, mirroring Yosef’s righteousness. Also, in Shemini, Nadav and Avihu died bringing a foreign fire into the Holy of Holies and later, from Balak the midrash and Zohar describe how their souls converged into a zealous Pinchas who was immediately and uniquely elevated to the Priesthood and ultimately reincarnated into The Prophet Eliyahu.

Every Passover Jews pour a cup of wine then walk it to their front doors where they call outside for Eliyahu’s return, which is thought to be the event that precedes Messianic return (Moshiach). The same Eliyahu is welcomed at every Jewish Circumcision, The Covenant, who comes to spiritually observe the separation of periya and orla of every brit milah (covenant of circumcision).

This perpetual Jewish ritual connecting covenant with speech, Zion with Joseph manifests in King David’s Messianic reality when Eliyahu returns to tell about the imminent realization of Moshiach in the world. This is the time that Zion will be fully revealed and the Shechina, representing God’s presence, restored as the prevailing and dominant feature of manifest reality.

Its because Kabbalistic science precedes and illuminates all of Tanach that the physical location of Zion cannot be separated from this inner architecture. The supernal Yesod demands exact convergence with Kingdom, its earthly counterpart.

2. Tribal Boundaries: Joshua’s Immutable Map of Kabbalistic Convergence

Jewish Law and Tradition establish Zion, the inner Foundation and Jerusalem, the outer Kingdom by absolute precision, fixed by Divine designation, tribal boundaries, and physical features that can be verified against text. They are in fact not only places reserved for the psycho-spiritual-realm, their convergence must also, both occupy the same place in the physical realm and when they do, “God will return Zion” to its place!

Joseph’s only brother Benjamin represents the lower aspect of Foundation, Yesod and that is precisely where the psycho-spiritual connection between Foundation and Kingdom manifests. It is on Benjamin's land that Joseph's upper Foundation was destined to connect to David's tribe of Judah land, that point of connection is Zion.

Joshua 15:7 (Benjamin's Eastern, Judash's Western Border):The boundary ascended from the Valley of Achor to Debir and turned north to Gilgal, facing the Ascent of Adummim that is south of the wadi; from there the boundary continued to the Waters of En-shemesh and ran on to En-rogel. Joshua 15:8 (Benjamin's Southern, Judah's Northern Border) “The boundary went up the Valley of the Son of Hinnom to the southern slope of the Jebusite city, that is Jerusalem and climbed to the crest of the mountain west of the Hinnom Valley at its northern end, at the Valley of Rephaim.” Joshua 18:16 (Judah's Northern, Benjamin’s Southern Border): “The border went down to the foot of the mountain that lies before the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is in the Valley of Rephaim on the north; it continued down the Valley of Hinnom to the slope of the Jebusite on the south, and descended to En Rogel.”

These verses place the boundary at the southern slope of Mount Moriah, the Jebusite city (Jerusalem), the Valley of Hinnom, and En Rogel to En Shemesh, the exact area of the Gihon Spring along the eastern slope of Mount Moriah. Later the Gemara explicitly adopted these Joshua boundaries, albeit to describe the second temple altar.

3. Davidic Conquest: The Stronghold as Temporary Substitute for Primordial Zion

Zion is mentioned first in 2 Samuel 5:7–9 which says: “David captured the stronghold of Zion and renamed it City of David…Whoever would strike the Jebusites, let him go up the water channel (TZiNoR).” The site is the “stronghold of Zion” captured via the water channel.

“Stronghold” could mean adjacent (nearby) or surrounding "of Zion", but close in proximity. So, we are left to ponder whether David ever located the physical Zion that the stronghold protected or what may have happened to it? When David captured the “stronghold of Zion”, the Jebusite village was a settlement on the upper ridge on the lower (southern) slope of Mount Moriah immediately above, in line with the spring of En Shemesh, first mentioned in Joshua 15:7 a few hundred years prior.

However, 2 Samuel 5:9 tells us the stronghold was renamed City of David, later 1 Kings 8:1 says the City of David is Zion and much later Isaiah 52:8 says God will return Zion.

King David had been anointed seven years prior to his arrival at the Stronghold, so what compelled him to come to this Mount Moriah location, conquer the stronghold and invoke the name Zion? As we have already discussed, the ancient psycho-spiritual-reality converging Zion and Jerusalem was already entrenched in indigenous tribal Israelite culture. The name Salem emanated at Abraham tithing Malchi-Tzedek, the High Priest of Salem and later at the binding of Isaac Abraham added the name Yireh to the same site together constituting Yireh-Salem: Jerusalem.

On David’s arrival at the mountain, his coining the word “Zion” declared it as the integral objective of his mission. But, the stronghold was a lesser substitute for a Zion that was not ready to be returned. Instead the City of David became its deflection. Once the first temple had been built Zion drifted from its anchor and its original location on Mount Moriah shifted from the place, by which Jerusalem had once obtained its name.

4. The Breaking of the Chain: “HaMakom,” the Akedah Altar, and the Summit Shift

Tanach reserved the definite article “HaMakom” (“The Place”) for the Moriah location, that permanently identified the Abrahamic event that established Yireh-Salem and the altar of Isaac’s binding - Akedah. But, almost 1000 years later, toward the end of his reign, King David made a surprise announcement: “This is the altar for the burnt-offerings of Israel”, it broke the chain and shifted Zion off the eastern ridge once designated as the "stronghold of Zion" to the mountain summit “of Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to David, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.”

Walking up to the holy places of Mount Moriah, whether the eastern ridge or the summit threshing floor can only ever, geo-physically, occur by approaching from the south or east. In first and second temple Jerusalem the sense of psycho-spiritual rising up or elevation known as aliya-la-regel was preserved through the centuries by an approach from the South. Approaching from the east became the exclusive practise of the priests serving in these temples.

5. Prophetic Confirmation: Isaiah 52:8 as the Decisive Grammatical and Mystical Linchpin

The prophet Isaiah, Yeshayahu states: בשוב ה״ ציון (52:8) which literally means “God will return Zion”. Commentators debate comparative translations of similar verses, but all other grammar relating to Zions return include prefix or suffix letters that indicate God will return to Zion. However, here God will return Zion, which we can comprehend in the lofty psycho-spiritual realm, but we must also understand it in reality.

The prophet is not speaking metaphorically. He is announcing the imminent convergence of Kabbalistic and geographical truth. When God returns Zion to its place—above the Gihon Spring on the lower slope of Mount Moriah—Foundation (Yesod) and Kingdom (Malchut) will occupy the identical physical coordinates, and the Shechinah will descend fully.

6. Maimonides and the Immutable Altar: Reaffirming Kabbalistic and Textual Precision

Maimonides rules in Mishneh Torah, Hilchot Beit HaBechirah 2:1: “The altar is [to be constructed] in a very precise location, which may never be changed, as it is said: ‘This is the altar for the burnt-offerings of Israel.’ This ruling ties Akedah to the incident that caused King David to build an altar at the foot of the Angel of Death that was standing on a threshing floor on the summit of Mount Moriah. Crucially, well before King David, Tanach makes it clear the site of the Akedah altar was a specific, pre-existing altar, not a threshing floor and no apparent association with Zion or Yireh-Salem.

7. The “Temple Zero” Candidate: Archaeological Corroboration of the Original Zion Site

Eli Shukron’s excavations on the eastern slope of the City of David, directly above the Gihon Spring, have uncovered an exceptional eight-room rock-hewn ritual complex dating to the Middle Bronze Age/Melchizedek era. The structure features an altar platform installation, a standing stone (massebah), oil press, and libation channels, clear evidence of sustained cultic/religious practice. It was first exposed and deliberately sealed with fill in the 8th century BCE, aligning precisely with King Uzziah and ultimately Hezekiah’s centralization reforms that abolished outlying ritual sites. Shukron, the excavation director, described it as the only known structure of its type from the biblical period in Jerusalem, used by Judahites. Informally termed “Temple Zero,” its location matches exactly the coordinates of the “stronghold of Zion,” the Joshua tribal boundaries (En Shemesh/En Rogel, southern slope of the Jebusite city), the tzinor water channel, and the lower slope above En Shemesh. This is the physical footprint of the primordial Yesod—the original Zion that served as the psycho-spiritual anchor before the Davidic shift and summit substitution. No comparable Iron-Age cultic installation exists elsewhere on the ridge. “Temple Zero” stands as the archaeological candidate that fulfills every textual, mystical, and geo-physical criterion.

Conclusion

The evidence converges with irrefutable force. Because Kabbalistic philosophy precedes and illuminates all of Tanach, the physical location of Zion cannot be a flexible label that permanently migrated to the summit. It is a fixed psycho-spiritual and geographical reality awaiting divine restoration. When God returns Zion—above the Gihon Spring on the lower slope of Mount Moriah, at the precise site now corroborated by “Temple Zero”—Foundation (Yesod) and Kingdom (Malchut) will occupy the identical physical coordinates. The Shechinah will descend fully, and Messianic reality will be complete. Mainstream tradition’s identification of the Temple Mount platform as Zion’s eternal home rests on the post-Davidic shift and later expansion, not the primal Kabbalistic, prophetic, tribal, legal, and textual record preserved in the original proof.

The Zohar, prophets, Davidic narratives, tribal borders, Maimonides’ precision, Isaiah’s grammar, and Shukron’s Temple Zero constitute decisive proof: the original Zion has never been lost—only temporarily obscured. Its return is imminent.

Walking up to the site of Akeda or the threshing floor can only ever, geo-physically, be made by approaching from the south or east in order to preserve a sense of psycho-spiritual rising up or elevation known as 'aliya-la-regel'. Some 300 years before King David, Joshua’s tribal boundaries fixed Benjamins Southeast corner on the adjacent northern border of tribe Judah. Benjamin was Joseph's brother and as such is also represented by the lower aspect of Foundation - Yesod and that is precisely where the psycho-spiritual connection between Foundation and Kingdom manifests. It is through Benjamin that the connection between David and Joseph becomes permanent.

These verses place the boundary at the southern slope of the Jebusite city (Jerusalem), the Valley of Hinnom, and En Rogel—the exact area of the Gihon Spring (also called En Shemesh) and the eastern slope of Mount Moriah.

The Gemara (*Zevachim* 53b) explicitly adopts these Joshua boundaries, albeit to explain the second temple altar design: “What is the reason that there was no base on the southeast corner of the altar? … Because it was not in the portion of land of the one who tears, i.e., the tribe of Benjamin … The part of the altar in Judah’s portion was the southeast corner of the base, and therefore there was no base on that corner.” 



On the eastern slope of Mount Moriah, directly above the Gihon Spring (En Shemesh) in the City of David, a rock-cut altar platform, carved from bedrock was discovered along with other significant features in a Stone Temple complex. These features align with the texts:

- Bedrock walls enclose the north, west, and south sides; the southeast corner is open—precisely as required by the Joshua boundaries and *Zevachim* 53b.

- It lies adjacent to the ancient TZiNoR water channel between En Shemesh and En Rogel described in 2 Samuel 5:8 and Joshua 18:16.

- Its location on the Judah-Benjamin border fulfills the tribal division codified in Joshua 15 and 18, with the southeast corner intersecting the boundary exactly as mapped in the excavations.

No other site on Mount Moriah combines these elements: the Joshua-defined border coordinates, the TZiNoR water channel, the open southeast corner, the bedrock foundation demanded by Halacha, and the pre-existing “ha-mizbeach” altar identified by Chizkuni.

When Zion and Jerusalem align in the psycho-spiritual and physical realm Joseph's higher Foundation will unite with Benjamin, then Zion will be returned and Kingdom in Jerusalem will rise again, forever!

Archaeology on Mount Moriah At Time of Biblical Jacob!

In his latest paper lead archaeologist Filip Vukosavović described work on the eastern slope of Jerusalem's Mount Moriah stating the; "discovery also offers conclusive evidence that the Fortified Passage and the Mid-Slope Fortification never functioned together." It’s a key observation that distinguishes Middle Bronze Age (MBA) from Iron Age (IA) archaeology. But, whether the Fortified Passage ever functioned together with the Mid-Slope, Rock-Cut-Rooms (RCR) during the MBA or whether the rooms had already disappeared under earth and were entirely lost at the time of construction and beyond was unknown. It’s important  because it would reveal if Kings from David and later were ever aware of RCR? 

Think about this: Sometime toward the end of the MBA, around 1500-1200 BCE a ruler over Mount Moriah's residents requested assistance to construct of the Fortified Passage on its open eastern face leading to the spring. This was no ordinary construction. Most of the boulders in the Fortified Passage weigh ~2–3 tons, large blocks ~5–8 tons and largest blocks ~8–10 tons, therefore, for several years a significant external labor force would have been present quarrying and moving blocks 10-40 meters up the steep ~20 degree slope. Hillel Geva among other notable archaeologists proposed that the number of inhabitants in Jerusalem in the Middle Bronze Age was at most 500–700. Allied forces were required to provide the labor to undertake such a significant construction.

On the Mid-Slope, at the top of the Fortified Passage construction site, a few meters south, organic material lay undisturbed in an ash layer, just above the bedrock. Adjacent to this ash layer a dormant water channel filled with 17th century BCE earth. 5-10 cm above the flat bedrock in a thin 1-cm horizontal layer of ash that was suspended on top of soft earth, archaeologists in 2016 found sample RTD-9962 that was covered over by collapsed medium size stones and RTD-9181 trapped beneath a floor of an IA building (W15048). The ash layer horizon could be traced for around 2m and the samples dated it between 1605 and 1515 BCE with a higher likelihood at the lower end of the range 1545 BCE - 1515 BCE. 



These findings confirmed that neither MBA constructors of the Fortified Passage or any other person since had ever disturbed this delicate ash layer. Therefore, the 2m wide area around these samples was fully preserved during MBA until their discovery in 2016. Further, organic samples above and below plaster lining the bedrock water channel were dated similarly by Weizmann and Cambridge indicating that it and the surrounding area were never used to support the activities of the RCR, implying that the rooms went entirely out of use. 

Now we can definitively say the MBA Fortified Passage never connected the MBA RCR on the same Mid-Slope even though it was later shared with IA Fortifications (see map W20005 below). That means the RCR went out of use for around 800 years until the IA Fortifications were constructed on the Mid-Slope at which stage the RCR were discovered and promptly reburied and remained buried until the Montague Parker excavation in the early 1900's stumbled across one of the rooms and Eli Shukron uncovered the rest in 2010.  


Notwithstanding that the RCR's were exposed to IA constructors of wall W20005 we validate that dating the area spanning the water channel and ash layer samples over the RCR's, to the east, and down the slope was entirely open: On the slope down to the spring (east of RCR) samples in the mortar of a wall segment sample were dated to the same dates as those in the ash layer (1605-1510 BCE). Therefore, shortly after this wall segment was constructed the entire area of the RCR's went out of use and the samples covered in this article lay in-situ, untouched for the past 3500 years. 


With this in mind, we can now comprehend how, according to Codex Judaica, the most statistically correct and well established Bible chronology, the events that overlap these sampled dates could conceivably coincide with Biblical Jacob.

Al Aqsa Muslims Bowing Toward Zion!


A discovery could rewrite Jerusalem and Zionism itself. Below the Temple Mount, the most contested patch of earth on the planet, a groundbreaking discovery could change the world with a single question: What if history’s holiest flashpoint is no longer the relevant place to contest?

For centuries, Jerusalem’s Temple Mount has been the axis of world faith and conflict. Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike have looked to its heights as the place where Abraham bound Isaac, where David laid the foundation stone, where Solomon raised the First Temple, and where creation itself began. Wars were waged over this summit. Empires clashed in its shadow. Today, it remains the most disputed piece of land on Earth.

But the drama may not be where we think it is. On the eastern slopes of Mount Moriah, south of and below the famed summit, a team of archaeologists has uncovered something extraordinary: a stone temple complex and water system dating back more than 3,500 years.



Carved directly into the mountain, this system includes a reservoir and a channel designed to wash blood and refuse from altars periodically built on a bedrock platform carved into the stone itself. Radiocarbon dating performed by Cambridge University and Israel’s Weizmann Institute places the sites construction and last use around 1535 BCE, in the precise 30 year window the Bible situates Jacob's final years in Canaan. And just when Jacob leaves for Egypt with his sons, the site appears abruptly abandoned.


The site’s architecture is not random. A west-facing altar matches Maimonides’ teaching that ancient pagans prayed eastward toward the rising sun, but Abraham turned away for the sun, west toward the sanctuary of the one true God. One chamber appears shaped for slaughter, another for burning sacrifices, and between them stands a matzevah—a standing stone remarkably consistent with Jacob’s pillar in Genesis 35: "Jacob set up a pillar at the site where God had spoken to him…”

This is not merely archaeology. This is scripture meeting bedrock. The irony is profound: The modern political conflict over Zionism also originates from a dispute over this very place. Zionism was born from a simple, ancient claim: The Jewish people have a right to their ancestral land because a specific place - Zion - was promised, inhabited, sanctified, and remembered. Eventually the Temple Mount became the physical and symbolic anchor for that claim. It was allegedly the 'stone' upon which Jewish historical legitimacy was cast. Modern anti-Zionist narratives lean heavily on undermining that very connection: Some argue Jews have no ancient ties to Jerusalem. Others claim the temples never stood on the mountain. Still others insist the Jewish link is a colonial myth retrofitted to a holy Muslim site.

Zion Redeemed

The Temple Mount is thus not just a place, it is the political fulcrum of Jewish indigeneity. Control the narrative of the Mount, and you control the legitimacy of Zionism itself. But, here lies the explosive twist: If the earliest Israelite sanctuary, altar, and stone pillar are actually located on the lower slope, not the Temple Mount summit, the entire frame of the modern conflict shifts. For Christians the implications touch salvation history. For Muslims, it challenges centuries of inherited tradition about the sacred geography and posits them bowing south toward Zion, which would stand in the way of Mecca. But, for Jews, the ramifications are seismic!

Bowing South to Zion

If Abraham’s altar of Akeida and Jacob’s monument stood not where today’s Dome of the Rock sits, but on the lower slope above the ancient spring of En Shemesh (Gihon), then:  Jewish worship would no longer be shackled by the political status quo on the Temple Mount. The “status quo” used to block Jewish prayer might simply be irrelevant. The dream of a Third Temple transforms from geopolitical nightmare to practical possibility.

And for the modern ideological struggle? Anti-Zionism loses its central pillar. If Jewish sanctity does not hinge on the contested summit, the claim that Zionism is a colonial intrusion on Muslim holy space collapses. Instead, the archaeological record reinforces that Israel was here first and that their earliest sanctuary at Zion came well before later constructions, long predating Solomon, Greek, Roman,  Byzantine, or Islamic claims.

For centuries, the Temple Mount was weaponized by Crusaders, by Sultans, by politicians, by terrorists. The October 7th massacre by Hamas and Islamic Jihad was named the 'Al Aqsa Flood', invoking the Temple Mount as justification for genocide. But Zionism was equally shaped by this pressure point. It emerged from a world that tried to dislodge Jews from their ground and a determination to return to that ground despite it. The contested nature of the place forged the movement itself. Yet, if the original altar of Isaac's binding (Akeida) lies on the lower slope, not on the summit of Mount Moriah, the entire narrative religious, historical and political must be rewritten.

Skeptics will argue the connection is circumstantial; believers may dismiss it as heresy. But the evidence is converging: The archaeological dates align with Jacob’s presence, during 10 of his last 30 years before leaving Israel. The orientation opposes the sun. The architecture matches traditional temple service descriptions. The water system supports sacrificial functions, not domestic use. The standing stone mirrors Jacob’s matzevah. And if these stones indeed tell the story they appear to tell, then the ideological battlefield over Zionism may have been misplaced for centuries.

The place that changed the world may not be the place that will change the world again. No city has borne more weight upon its stones than Jerusalem. But, if this discovery holds, then Jerusalem’s oldest stones reveal a stunning revelation:  Zionism may not originate from a disputed Temple Mount summit after all, but from a forgotten sanctuary on the lower slope that every day Muslims face from Al Aqsa.  And that revelation could shift the world politically, spiritually, and historically.

The stones of Jerusalem still have secrets to tell. And those secrets may yet reshape the meaning of Zion, the struggle for it, and the future built upon it.

Redeeming Zion!


The Temple Mount features deeply in the psyche of many religious Jews that they are often blinded to misinterpret the location of Zion. Here I have extracted the most revealing mentions of Zion and I elaborate their meaning in that context.  

2 Samuel 5:7 

וַיִּלְכֹּ֣ד דָּוִ֔ד אֵ֖ת מְצֻדַ֣ת צִיּ֑וֹן הִ֖יא עִ֥יר דָּוִֽד׃

But David captured the stronghold of Zion; it is now the City of David.

Prophet Samuel tells us the citadel or stronghold of Zion becomes the City of David. The verses tell us David stayed in the place they captured and that place that he stayed was expanded and became the City of David.

Torah In Middle Bronze Age Archaeology

Jewish Male Circumcision At 8 Days Old

Israelite rituals that preceded the Old Testament were transcribed into it and many have been retained through the ages including by today's contemporary Orthodox Jews. For example; post wedding celebrations are held by families and friends each day for seven days, the practice was first described by Jacob's father-in-law. Or male circumcision on the eighth day after birth was instituted by Abraham for his son Isaac. Or the passage of Levite priesthood that continues to be passed from father to son in todays Jewish communities. Each of these rituals began hundreds of years before Moses transcribed the Old Testament. Ongoing practice of Biblical traditions underlie the authenticity of orthodox Judaism. 

One such glaring example relates temple worship and was recently discovered in a stone temple carved in the bedrock of Mount Moriah's eastern slope - we will call this complex Temple Zero since it precedes Jerusalem's First and Second Temple. Carbon dated evidence from the bedrock surface proves that Temple Zero was not used for worship after1535 BCE, at the time Jacobs Family emigrated from the region. The small number of artifacts discovered in Temple Zero and their periods obfuscated clues as too how the site was originally used, but its original Middle Bronze Age, bedrock bound, features strongly relate to Biblical writings, Jewish laws, customs and traditions.

The most essential and uniquely Jewish feature, is Temple Zero's western orientation, precisely defined by the altar platform (Room 1 above) and matzevah (room 4). No other Middle Bronze Age cultic structure with a western orientation exists in Israel. All other cults, of this time, faced east to pay homage to the sun. Monotheism, attributed to Abraham and the high priest of Salem, Malchi-Tzedek to whom Abraham tithed, turned against the sun.

More than six hundred years later this orientation found its way into the western facing structure and priestly practices in the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle that Moses built, then into Jerusalem's permanent Temples. Finally synagogues of the world expressed this by facing prayer structures toward the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and priestly services turned their backs to the entrance. The cultic origins of Christianity enshrined the orientation of its priests and altars toward the rising sun in the east and in modern churches priests face toward the entrance. 

Until the temple in Jerusalem is rebuilt, the daily Orthodox ritual is to verbalize the prescribed sacrificial offerings of Jerusalem's temples. However, well before contemporary prayer was instituted, the Book of Leviticus, as evidenced by the 2000 year old burnt Leviticus scroll described sacrificial rites in detail, yet Temple Zero already facilitated many of these. Mostly these sacrificial rites are expounded in Jewish law requiring animals, wine, flour, oil and water. These laws describe that purity was retained only in stone or bedrock vessels. The construct and features of Temple Zero facilitated these rituals hundreds of years before the Leviticus text was transcribed by Moses.

The main elements of Jewish sacrifice includes oil, flour, wine and young domesticated sheep. Only unblemished animals could be sacrificed for the holy altar, this always biased selection to younger animals. Carved low in the bedrock of the room 5 (see below) that was once used to process slaughtered animals for the offering altar, we found a place to tether animals. The tether was low (~30cm) to the ground which supports its primary use for younger, smaller animals.

Olives would have been pressed to protect purity by flowing oil into a bedrock or a stone vessel that was not connected to a pipe or channel, typically used for vollumous production. These features are evident in the oil press (room 2) carved into the bedrock of the mountain. Once pressed oil would have been cupped out of the bedrock vessel into a stone vessel and immediately poured over refined or parched flour and offered with a sacrifice.

Pouring liquids onto corners of the altar included wine, water or blood that once flowed into a liquids channel to a pit or onto dust that was cleared daily and deposited outside the area of the temple. During slaughter blood from the animals neck was captured in a convex based stone vessel. At the base of the altar, a convex vessel would rest in its concave counterpart carved in the bedrock (see Room 1 below) in preparation for sprinkling blood of the sacrificed animal on the altar.  



The South-East (SE) corner of the foundation of the First and Second Temple altar drew on a tradition (Zevachim 53b) sourced in the biblical verse that it was in the tribal territory of Judah, the other corners were in Benjamin: “Benjamin is a wolf that tears apart; in the morning he devours the prey, and in the evening he divides the spoil” (Genesis 49:27). Now, based on Ronny Reich's declaration that the Gihon Spring was known as Ein Shemesh, the tradition conclusively followed the altar at Temple Zero. 

These rich features on the bedrock of Temple Zero support the Jewish origins of our pre-Biblical Israelite (Jacob) heritage and are uncannily aligned with the declaration in Deuteronomy 33:4 that:  

תּוֹרָ֥ה צִוָּה־לָ֖נוּ מֹשֶׁ֑ה מוֹרָשָׁ֖ה קְהִלַּ֥ת יַעֲקֹֽב׃ 

The Torah Moses charged us with is the heritage of the congregation of Jacob.

Programmed Haredi Opposition vs. GDP Contribution


The programmed attack, by so many Israelis, on Hareidim (the religious who wear black), those who dedicate their early life to Torah study and often continue into institutionalized Yeshiva life, is relentless. Their basis for attack is largely unwarranted except for the compounding fact that institutionalized Haredim default to extend Torah study and through it justify their avoiding compulsory service in Israel's defense force (IDF). These people are supported by their Rabbinical heads, much to the ire of Israel's secular and other religious communities. 

The Haredi Torah enterprise is an extremely successful machine, funded and financed by massive flows of foreign and domestic private sector philanthropy and government funding. Among those who exit institutionalized Torah study, some become independently wealthy and continue to finance and support the institutions and their people.

I have tried to aggregate the total of all private sector philanthropy dedicated to Haredi communities, but the government does not openly promote this statistic. In my estimate it warrants inclusion in the annual economic reporting of domestic GDP because it would certainly be a significant private sector contribution, likely to exceed $1 billion annually. Unreported GDP of this magnitude underlies ignorance among the wider community of Israelis.

What motivates the private sector to support such an enterprise is complex, but Haredim present the most successful model for Jewish continuity of any other Jewish segment, worldwide, by far and that may be the ultimate reason. 

Further, Haredi enlistment into the IDF is very low and the problem exacerbated by institutionalized sectors of  Haredi community who are typically older than 21, and who continue married life, centered around the Yeshiva, without ever pursuing regular forms of employment. Arab sectors of Israeli society who also have very low enlistment rates also drain taxpayer funding through educational institutions of Israel. The problem is not limited to Haredim, yet they remain the target of attack.

Efforts are underway to improve Haredi enlistment, but its high time the Haredi leaders and Israel's government fight for improved transparency so the nation can become more aware of their important economic contribution to the country.

Purim, Randomness and Quantum Mechanics

Einstein stated, "God does not play dice with the universe." In his clarifying letter, he wrote: "God tirelessly plays dice under laws which He has Himself prescribed.”

These days we may have an easier time understanding the double-slit experiment that demonstrates light and matter can satisfy classical definitions for both waves and particles. This ambiguity is considered evidence for the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics. Electrons fired in a single trajectory toward a screen, pass through a barrier with two slits, then interfere to produce bright and dark bands on the screen, a result that would not be expected if light consisted of classical particles.

This dual particle-wave quality demonstrates the fundamental limitation of the observer to predict experimental results, Richard Feynman called it "a phenomenon" where the observer affects the outcome.

Strangely the Jewish holiday of Purim celebrates drawing the random lot, as in a "lottery", that was played by Israel's chief villain to decide the date he would annihilate the Jews of Persia. The festival obliges Jews to reach a mind set, typically induced by excessive alcohol, where the cursed villain Haman and blessed hero, of the Jewish people, Mordechai are identical. Strangely, while inebriated, Jews must remain cognoscente that Haman was the villain. This mental juggling act can get tricky for some, especially after a few drinks and atonement on this occurs through unadulterated expression of joy. 

So why, on this most festive day of the entire calendar do Jews celebrate the miracle in the "lottery", surely there are other much more meaningful aspects of this redemption from collective disaster? 

Based on thousands of years of teachings, consistent with Torah, the Rebbe precisely describes the lofty, apparent randomness of the "lottery"! In classic Kabballah and Chassidus, the studies of Jewish mysticism and philosophy, the world and its Creator are defined, often invoking scientific analogies. For the uninitiated these are difficult to comprehend, but here in his Maamar, Al Kein Karu (highly recommended reading), on the story of Purim, the Rebbe transcends all complex spiritual barriers.

The lottery describes a lofty spiritual level like that experienced on the calendars holiest day, Yom Kippur, literally meaning a day like (ki) a "lottery" (pur). The classic meaning is a day like Purim where "like" defines Purim's lofty status over Yom Kippur. Opposite to Purim, atonement on Yom Kippur is granted for conflicting the Will of the Creator and takes place through affliction and fasting. Similarly, on Yom Kippur lots were cast to decide which of two identical goats would be sent to Azazel, the evil side and which one would be offered up on the Holy Temple Altar.

Since these items, goats, villain or hero should be either physically or spiritually identical ones intellect cannot reach a meaningful decision thus the will or desire to make an informed decision submits. Reverting to a higher order, the decision rises to the level of lot or lottery.

Masterfully The Rebbe elaborates on the Biblical sources that teach how choosing, on these high holidays, resembles the systematic order of creation. Here, 'lottery" presides above will or desire, but even more lofty, the possession of a free-choice. Therefore, in deference, The Creator, who granted free-choice to Man, Woman and the Jewish People, presides, including over particles and waves as The Master of Free-Choice. The Ultimate Observer affects infinite outcomes because every expression is probable, identical until, in our world, its momentarily not.

Haman and Babylonians knew about spiritual systems, he knew that his lot fell in the month Moses, the leader of the Jewish people died, he didn't know it was also the month of his birth. Only the lottery would afford him a random chance to destroy the Jewish people. In his arrogance he failed to recognize that free-choice granted by The Master of Free Choice affects all outcomes through His continuous expression that manifests as time and space. 

King Achashverosh (his name intimating controller over alternating modes of speaking-silence) who who had been influenced by his Jewish Queen, Esther (her name intimating her concealment), lifted his decree against the Jewish people and placed Haman's future into his Queen's hand. The gallows Haman prepared for Mordechai were instead used on Haman and the Jewish people were saved from certain annihilation.

Two State Impossibility!



Corrupt, virulent orators and criminals

Most people governed under the Palestinian Authority or Hamas are not indigenous in their present locale, nor do they share common nationhood. The significant majority descend from Arab immigrant laborers who came from Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. There are smaller representations whose families were present prior to 1948, but most trace their roots to indigenous tribes of other countries. 

Unlike post WWII Jewish immigrants from diverse backgrounds, these mixed Arab clans were the underclass, vulnerable to corrupt or criminal gang leaders who exploited their lack of nationhood with disastrous affect. Charismatic leaders like Yasser Arafat, were quickly supported through Jordan's desire to rid itself of the growing Palestinian ‘nationhood’ problem it was facing. 

Since the 1960's rival quasi-political groups, that became Fattah and Hamas, sold themselves as political parties that could establish and lead a cohesive, prosperous Palestinian nation. As we know that did not occur, most of their rhetoric promoted self-serving opportunities for individual economic gain at the people's expense by selling the greatest lie on earth. In 1988 the King of Jordan canceled the Jordanian passports of 100,000+ Jordanian citizens living in Jerusalem making them persona-non-grata.

The failure to self-govern opened the door to virulent orators, benevolent dictators and criminals who exploited global antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment to deflect abstract failure, blame Israel and raise funds for the so called 'Palestinian cause' and enrich themselves. Despite support of global liberal democracies, these Arabs have not elected representatives for almost 20 years, yet sponsorship from other democratic nations has been abundant. Not surprisingly western nations compromised their long upheld democratic values and joined others to back anti-Zionist protagonists who suppressed the voices of these disparate Arab clans under the thin Palestinian veil. 

Since the late 1970's Fattah and Hamas leaders, of these 4 million broken people, pushed the armed struggle against Israel to the front of their radicalized religious and political agenda's. The events of Simchat Torah 5784 (October 7, 2023) brought the ugly reality of 'Palestinian' people to a shocking head and apparent realization. Now, Israel has been forced to expand its active responsibility for the security of its citizens and resident aliens, between the river and the sea. 

Israeli hostages, presently captive in Gaza, are mostly from liberal Kibbutz families of the South. Many have worked tirelessly over decades to assist Gaza residents to gain work opportunities in Israel. Now those families are desperately trying to shift their nations priority to the plight of loved ones, against the nations preferred priority to defeat Hamas. These families will be politically exploited as globalists fund  sponsorship of more domestic unrest and bring Israelis to accept the priority of hostages over destruction of Hamas. 

The so called nation of "Palestinian People" does not exist and never will, but the plight of the Arabs who presently live under these corrupt authorities must be presented with options for better lives. Despite attempts by foreign actors to recognize a Palestinian state, Israel will eventually offer these Hamas or Palestinian Authority constituents a pathway to status as Israeli resident aliens followed by a multi-year probationary citizenship and ultimately citizenship to the United nation of Israel. 

Now Israel is, for the first time, facing its toughest challenge, rising anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism and anti Israel pressures from other democracy’s. It will face rising domestic security costs and heightened domestic rhetoric while it comprehends and prepares for a secure, one state future in which Jewish Sovereignty, from the river to the sea, will finally be constitutionally guaranteed by an elected senate of respected, Jewish rabbinical leaders

My Journey to Israel.


Of the roughly 100 trips I have made to Israel over the last 20 years, this one was the most challenging, physically, mentally and spiritually. The day I landed, a ceasefire had come into effect and on the following day I visited the shiva home of Eitan Dishon z’l a brave combat soldier. His mother and father could not stop thanking me enough for expanding the neighborhood of Nof Tzion where they live. Eitan had come home the weekend before, his Dad proudly showed off pictures standing proud with his son. He visited his grandparents and friends before returning to base. On the fateful day, driving the troop carrier, he popped his head through the hatch to observe broader surroundings only to be hit at the back of the head by a sniper in a nearby building. After that the IDF flattened more buildings to protect troops in vehicles like Etian’s. 

The ceasefire produced days of quiet and reflection. We had held BBQ’s in the north where it is often difficult to secure meat supplies, but Sydney resident Louis Goldstein’s son Yossi and his platoon got to eat a meal fit for a king. I filled most days with meetings, property, technology, visiting half empty offices, Jerusalem, TelAviv dealing with a busy schedule. One of my meetings was with my close friend Didi, one of my lawyers, for the past 20 years, a member of Jerusalem’s city council. His brother, an absolute lion of a man, Yossi Hershkowitz z’l had been killed in the days before I arrived. We spent time talking about his great achievements and how sorely he would be missed. 

Through the week I began to sense how traumatized people were, even the toughest people closest to me, lawyers, accountants, counsellors, politicians, business associates. Everyone was affected, but no-one knew how far reaching this would be.  

I spent some time with the legendary Dovi Meyer, he was running from pillar to post handing out tzedakah checks to families whose kids had fallen in battle, or running concerts, BBQ’s and other events. Still he and I found a few times to catch up, with the usual crew at the cigar shop in Mamilla. 

On my first Friday, just before Shabbat I made my regular trip to the City of David’s, Gihon Spring, a mikvah tucked in a crevice of a cave at the base of Mount Moriah adjacent to Silwan. The mikvah has been there since the dawn of time. Midrashim states that Adam sat in that mikvah, continuously for 130 years, after ‘the sin’ in Gan Eden. There I met my friend Moshe Weiz, a giant in Torah, Rosh Yeshiva and General in the IDF, responsible for troop movements in Yehuda and Shomron. He said something that stuck: These are great days we are living through. Immediately I understood what he was saying. How can we know anything of the reasons for a demonic massacre of our people, or of our hostages caged in tunnels, or spreading voices of denial and abounding antisemitism? Are we so blind not to see the awakening consciousness behind the common morality of the Jewish people. 

Afterall it was Bilam, the world’s greatest demon who was once compelled to pronounce: “How precious are your tents O’Jacob, your dwelling places O’Israel”.

My moments under the cold waters of that mikvah were special, they always are. 

Before I could blink it was Shabbat. At Beis Menachem, we made kiddush and sat through a very reflective fabreing. At 6AM the next morning we jumped into my CEO’s car heading south. Along the way we stopped in Netivot to catch the 7:30 AM Shacharit Minyan. Driving through the town, you could spot the missile hits that had previously damaged the odd building. Along the way we stopped at the graveyard of 2300 cars that had been destroyed by the more than 3000 terrorists, blood thirsty Gazan’s and the journalists who accompanied them. Each car tagged, many had burned to a rusty shell. Zaka volunteers had searched and carefully logged every car for clues of body parts that would identify victims. 

We stopped at Kibbutz Alumim where 60 terrorists had been eliminated by brave residents, a skeleton crew of IDF and citizen responders among whom two heroic brothers, who had rushed to the rescue only to be killed al pi’ kiddush Hashem. 17 Thai and Nepalese farm workers were slaughtered, the rest kidnapped. Of the 17, 8 were knifed to death in a safe room. The others shot and burned in their bunks. Farm equipment was torched, milking facilities destroyed, clearly an objective was to destroy the symbolisms of Israel infrastructure. For the next few hours we sat watching security system videos that were time-sync edits of the camera captures from the first terrorists entering the kibbutz and the brave battles to contain them.

As we drove past the forest of the Nova festival site a road-sign over the bridge informed us we were in “Eretz Gerar ”, the very place Philistine King Avimelech and his General Phichol had once come to demand a peace pact with Isaac after they had attacked Isaac and stopped up his wells. Why did they come to demand peace? Because Isaac had been blessed, they were defeated by his continuous success in everything he did and their moral ineptitude scared them. Perhaps, here is a lesson to be learned through Israel’s abundant modern day successes, perhaps we should terrorize them with our most successful people, in all areas of life, until they fear that God is with us. 

At Tzehilim infantry base we arranged a BBQ for a few hundred soldiers. There I was shocked to discover the degree of our resolve. Religious or secular, men and women soldiers who had been living in tents, on the ground or on foam mattresses for the past 54 days, I asked them whether they wanted to go home. Their answers reflected a consistent almost monotonous tone; “yes, but we’re not ready until we finish the job. 

The next day, a special group convened to give birth to Project “Israel Slingshot”. Fundraisers, web developers, intelligence, media buying experts and marketers all came together with one common goal; defeat online antisemitism! A few days later Amichai Chikli, Diaspora and Hasbara Minister met with us to endorse the initiative and provide initial matching support. We’re raising donations to buy media impressions, via open-web exchanges, presently reaching audiences with ads for Stand With US and other pro-Israeli messaging on sites like Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, CNN Arabic, Sky News, etc. Imagine getting an Israel activist message that celebrates successful Jews, 3 times a day or more, everyday, wherever you are on the open web, for years to come! Every $1 raised buys 1000 impressions, with matching 2000. With the right pro-Jewish messages, over time, that will reduce ignorance, make a dent and break the cycle of social media echo chambers. 

Besides this action packed agenda, it was very special to host Malcolm and Dani Daitz on a tour of the excavation I have been very close to for the past 14 years. The place I believe everyone will one day recognize as being the stone that Jacob erected the night after his famous stairway to heaven dream. In context, that stone sits among four bedrock rooms of a stone temple, carved into the eastern slope of Mount Moriah, immediately above the Gihon Spring. 

Then the inevitable, the ceasefire was lifted and before I knew it, Shabbos was upon us, back to the Gihon spring. A very special Shabbos, Yud Tes Kislev, The holiday of redemption. Yahrzeit of the Maggid, the day the Alter Rebbe was released from prison. The Kiddush and fabreing continued until Ma’ariv, if only we could have taken some pictures of Chassidim slouching on tables filled with empty plates, bottles and l'chaim. 

The news after Shabbos wasn’t good, several soldiers fell. Sadly, along with thousands, I attended the Levya of 22 year old Sergeant First Class, Ben Zussuman from Jerusalem. The words of Ben’s mother Sarit echoed through Israel and world media - in Hebrew she said: 

“We are a people who want to live, not like our enemies, who are lowly and miserable, cowards, Nazis, who together with their accomplices sanctify death. We will live, and thrive, and build…We have to be successful. It's either us or them. Either the Nazis and their accomplices, or us.

Do you hear, people of Israel?  World, do you hear? Or do you hear, our cowardly and evil and death thirsty enemies?

The Nation of Israel lives, Am Yisroel Chai, for all of eternity, for ever and ever, standing tall, head held high, now more than ever. Be strong, believe, pursue goodness -- demand goodness, and we will win.”

Yes, Gaza Is Aza - End The 4000 Year Curse.


All Jews must prepare for a Holy war that lasts beyond evil Jihad. After Israel bombs more buildings, completes its ground invasion, kills lots of terrorists, rescues as many hostages as it can, buries and grieves its dead, we must ensure it corrects the 4000 year old curse of Aza by immediately securing land and possessing it in Gaza.

This curse relates to Abraham and Isaacs pact with the King of Philistines who attacked their wells, then demanded concessions for peace. Sound familiar? They granted him and his future generations the right to live on the land of Aza.

[Think tribal]: On Israel's return to its land, the tribe of Dan were allotted land that included Aza. The other 11 tribes of Israel, had already settled their land but, they failed to assist Dan conquer its allotment. Disenfranchised and demotivated, Dan's tribal leaders wandered aimlessly often promoting idolatry to other tribes. Then, Samson became a leader of Dan and the nations highest judge. Single handedly he attempted to draw attention to the problem. He went to Aza, ripped the iron gates off the city walls and carried them to the graves of Israel's Patriarchs and Matriarchs in Hebron. Sadly no tribe stepped up to help the tribe of Dan. 

Samson belittled the powerful Philistines until he destroyed their temple of idolatry perishing with their leaders and thousands of congregants. Later, the Philistines raided all of Israel's tribes and stole the nations most holy possession, the Ark of Covenant, from their temple, in Shilo. The peace-pact was shattered a thousand years after Abraham and Isaac. But, Dan and Israel were dispossessed of their land and never returned to Aza. 

Yes, Aza is Gaza. Resurrecting that pact, the Romans named all of Israel Syria Palestina, and the British adopted the Roman resurrection calling it Palestine. On Simchat Torah 5784, of the Hebrew Year, Israel paid a very heavy price. Now, it must break the enemy curse and finally possess Aza. 

ISRAEL MUST NEVER LEAVE GAZA! 

There, Israel must immediately build a Hesder Yeshiva and protect it with everything it’s got. Then, build another and another and another…until holy places of Jewish Torah learning and their communities are secured in all of Gaza. This is how Aza's neighborhoods can begin to be normalized. The plan has been implemented and is working for resilient Jewish communities in The City of David, Silwan, Nazareth elit, Bat Yam, Lud, Jabel MuKabar, Hebron and many other places in Israel. 

Holy Torah is the only weapon Israel has to dispel and resist any misconstrued, Jihad! Israel must not fall into the trap of building fences around empty tracts of land on which Palestinians can be recruited by the next Jihadist terror regime. That would be an invitation for the next disastrous tragedy in years or decades to come. Never again!
